Who We Are...

A local developer proposed constructing a small retail store and demolishing the historic house General James Longstreet used as his headquarters in Russellville, TN during the winter of 1863-64.

Lakeway Civil War Preservation Association was organized in February 2006 to save this historic house. LCWPA was incorporated; granted a Tennessee Charter, and a 501c3 charitable non-profit IRS status (donations are tax deductible).

LCWPA is dedicated to preserving our Civil War heritage and telling the complete story of the Civil War in the Lakeway area of East Tennessee. LCWPA is working with historic Bethesda Church which was used a hospital by both armies, the Rose Center, the Bean Station Battlefield, the Bulls Gap Battlefield and other historic sites in the Lakeway area.
